English : Aim of my study is the design, construction and organization of the Digital Museum of Greek Oral History (DiMuGOHI) as a research and educational tool addressed to pupils, language instructors, language researchers and anyone interested in Modern Greek, its dialectal variants and their teaching. Side goals of the projects are, on the one hand, the training of elementary and high school pupils in methods of dialectal data collection and processing, and, on the other hand, the collection, processing, filing, preservation and diffusion of audiovisual dialectal data by the trainees. The DiMuGOHI has the shape of a digital platform, where, apart from the data, information regarding the grammatical characteristics of modern Greek dialects as well as qualitative and quantitative data analyses are available. Our study is currently limited to the dalect spoken in Crete. However, the DiMuGOHI is designed in such a way so as to host data from the major dialectal zones of Greece. Thw Museum can serve as a language teaching tool as well as a means for teaching geography, socal sciences, local history, environmental education and other topics which stme from the dialectal data analysis. The Museum’s contribution is related to a) the pupils’ sensitization on dialectal issues, b) the conscious knowledge that dialects are ‘living’ language systems and equal to the norm, and c) the study of local history.
